Services
- Freight Dispatch — Load booking, broker rate negotiation, carrier packets, rate confirmations, BOLs, detention and TONU claims. Carrier-first: dispatchers work for the carrier, never the broker. 10% of each load booked, factoring 3%, no setup fee, one-year contract. Owner-operators on the VLT dispatch board also get factoring, ELD, trailer leasing and fuel card.
- Authority & Compliance — Owner-operators lease on to VLT and run under VLT’s USDOT 3586822 and MC 1214207 — no authority of their own needed. VLT sets up the lease, adds the truck to VLT’s insurance, pays the government fees and handles BOC-3, UCR, drug and alcohol testing and MCS-150 updates. Weekly pay: statement every Thursday, paid Friday.
- CDL Hiring — Places Class A CDL drivers with owner-operators and fleet carriers: OTR, regional and local, dry van and reefer.
- Freight Quotes — Request a rate for full truckload, less-than-truckload or intermodal freight; review the full rate before booking.
- Freight Tracker — Track a VLT load with the load number from the rate confirmation: the city and state the truck last reported from, how far it still is from the delivery, the bill of lading and proof of delivery. VLT shows city and state, not an exact position.
- VLT Shop — GPS trackers, TPMS, ELDs, cab kitchen tech and VLT apparel for owner-operators and CDL drivers.

What is a freight dispatcher?
A freight dispatcher finds and books loads for a trucking company or owner-operator, negotiates rates with brokers and handles the paperwork — carrier packets, rate confirmations and BOLs — so the driver can keep driving.
What is the difference between a dispatcher and a freight broker?
A broker arranges transportation for shippers. A dispatcher works as the carrier’s agent under a written agreement and is paid by the carrier. FMCSA explained the difference in guidance published June 16, 2023.
Can I get factoring or the fuel card without VLT dispatch?
No. Factoring, ELD, trailer lease and fuel card are only for owner-operators dispatched by VLT.
Do I need my own MC number to work with VLT?
With VLT you do not need one: owner-operators lease on to VLT and run under VLT’s USDOT 3586822 and MC 1214207. VLT keeps its own insurance, BOC-3, UCR and MCS-150 current.
What is a BOC-3?
The form that names process agents — people who can accept legal papers for your company — in the states where you operate. FMCSA requires it before operating authority is granted.
What is UCR?
Unified Carrier Registration: a yearly registration and fee for carriers that operate in interstate commerce.
How often do I update my MCS-150?
Every 24 months, in a month set by your USDOT number (49 CFR 390.19), and whenever your business information changes.
What insurance does a new carrier need?
For-hire carriers of non-hazardous freight in trucks of 10,001 lbs or more need at least $750,000 in liability coverage, filed with FMCSA by the insurer (49 CFR 387.9).
What rights do I have if I lease on to a carrier?
Under 49 CFR 376.12: a signed written lease, pay within 15 days after you submit delivery paperwork, every chargeback itemized, no required purchase of the carrier’s products or services, and escrow returned with interest within 45 days after the lease ends.
Does VLT work in Spanish?
Yes. Everything VLT does is available in English and Spanish.
